Contrary themes on three peer-run warm lines.

C Pudlinski1.

Abstract

Peer-run warm lines are relatively new precrisis services, designed for providing social support. Participant observation of three warm lines revealed them to be complex entities, consisting of three contrary themes. Site 1 emphasized connectedness: build peer support networks and establish relationships. Site 2 emphasized nondirectiveness: actively listen and respect boundaries. Site 3 emphasized problem solving: make sure callers are safe for the night.
