Abstract
Microbial biofilms are a major concern of infections associated with implantable medical devices as well as with many non-implant related chronic infectious diseases in humans. Dental plaque is also a biofilm. Dental plaque is probably one of the best characterized biofilms occurring on the surface of human tissues. This article will examine the impact of biofilm research on concepts of microbial etiology and the treatment implications for periodontitis.Entities:
