Abstract
A case report of a leiomyosarcoma of the rectum recurrent after six years is presented. The diagnostic criteria for determining malignancy are reviewed. The diagnosis of a benign lesion must be supported by the absence of mitoses; mitotic figures are considered proof of malignancy. Abdominoperineal resection is the procedure of choice for leiomyosarcoma of the rectum.Entities:
