Abstract
The primary sensors in the gut are endocrine cells. They release peptides and amines that stimulate intrinsic and extrinsic neural pathways affecting gastrointestinal motor and secretory function. These regulatory mechanisms alter the digestive and absorptive capacity of the intestine to match the entry of a meal from the stomach.Entities:
