Abstract
Bioprosthetic heart valve, derived from human or animal tissues is a commercial, implantable valve characterised by good haemodynamic parameters, low haemolysis ratio and satisfactory durability. Until now, its wide-spread therapeutic use has been limited by the progressing leaflet calcification. The aim of the paper is to present the benefits, adverse reactions as well as problems associated with the improvement of this bioprosthesis.Entities:
