Abstract
The concept of mast cells as playing a critical and multifaceted role in immune defense against pathogens is new, and effective ways to study and validate this notion are required. Recently, a number of approaches have been described that can be used to study the molecular aspects of mast cell recognition of pathogens, and of specific mast cell responses, such as mediator release, bacterial endocytosis and mast cell migration, to pathogens.Mesh:
