Abstract

The effect of 4-flavonil-1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives on a chemical system involving a superoxide radical anion was tested using the chemiluminescence and spectrophotometry methods. All tested compounds enhanced the light emission from the system. The obtained results indicated that the tested derivatives may catalyze the conversion of superoxide radicals, thus showing superoxide dismutase activity. Copyright 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
