Abstract
Streptococcus pneumoniae is a common cause of infection in the pediatric population, as well as an important cause of septic arthritis. The increased prevalence of drug-resistant S pneumoniae in North America has renewed interest in the use of pneumococcal vaccines. We describe the case of a child with isolated acute septic arthritis caused by infection with penicillin-resistant S pneumoniae.Entities:
