Abstract
There is a growing interest in the utilization of procyanidins for their dietary and pharmacological properties. A wide spectrum of beneficial activity for human health has been advocated for procyanidins due, in part, to their strong antioxidant activity. More recently the ability of procyanidins to affect gene expression and cell response in vitro has been reported, providing a novel mechanistic perspective on the biological activity of these phytochemicals. This article reviews recent cellular and molecular aspects of the biological activity of procyandins and discusses their disease preventative and therapeutic potentials.Entities:
