Stainless steel crown and pulpotomy: procedure and technique for primary molars.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to facilitate performance of the stainless steel crown and pulpotomy procedures in order to save chair time and provide a more durable and reliable final restoration for primary molars. The rationale and methods for preparing the tooth, crown selection, and placement of a stainless steel crown are included, along with alternatives for selection and technique for fabrication of more esthetic options. Medicament and tips for the pulpotomy procedure also are discussed. Information for patient education and consent regarding the procedures and their limitations is provided to complete this step-by-step guide for the clinician.
