Abstract
Mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver is an unusual oncologic entity which occurs almost exclusively in infancy and childhood; fewer than 200 cases have been reported. We present the case of a 21-year-old female, who was admitted to our institution with a painful right subcostal mass lasting for 6 months, who had no evidence of generalised disease. Imaging procedures revealed a central solid lesion, 15 cm in diameter, in the right lobe of the liver, with cystic degeneration. The patient underwent a formal right hepatectomy. The pathology report ascertained the presence of a benign mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver.Entities:
