Abstract
The BSE crisis, restrictions over export of UK beef and bans on animal-derived concentrate feeds are driving agriculture in the UK 'back' towards more sustainable, low input systems for feeding cattle and sheep using 'natural' home-grown forages. Research is in progress to answer some of the questions surrounding the use of protein- and energy-rich alternative forages as feeds for ruminants.Entities:
