Abstract
The reactions that culminate in the synthesis of oxalate in human cells have not yet been clarified. Glycolate and glyoxylate appear to be major precursors. Experimental problems and unresolved issues are highlighted in this review. Assumptions that have been made with out experimental support are identified. The recognition of these assumptions and the testing of their validity should advance our knowledge of the pathways involved, their regulation, and their physiologic significance.Entities:
