Abstract
We report on the history of a 36-year-old woman with untreated coarctation of the aorta and patent ductus arteriosus who developed refractory heart failure due to severely impaired left ventricular function. After coarctation repair and duct resection, left ventricular function improved to normal. Even in the presence of longstanding left ventricular pressure and volume overload, subsequent severe myocardial failure may be reversible by surgical repair.Entities:
