Abstract
There has been growing interest in the United States in postgraduate training in palliative medicine. In order for this to proceed in an organized fashion, educational standards need to be developed. We must define what our knowledge base is and what we require of a specialty-trained individual. This article reports the development of the first fellowship program in the United States, with the goal of encouraging further discussion and ultimately obtaining specialty recognition.Mesh:
