Abstract
Microarrays have been used to characterize gene expression through the yeast cell cycle. Computational methods have been applied to the microarray data to identify coregulated clusters of genes, and motif-finding algorithms have found promoter elements characteristic of each cluster. The functional relevance of these promoter elements can be tested using chromatin immunoprecipitation, additional microarrays and other molecular techniques. The yeast forkhead proteins have been successfully identified as cell cycle transcription factors for an important cluster of genes by this and other approaches.Entities:
