Failure to protect Mus musculus against Plasmodium berghei with footpad injections of killed parasites incorporated in complete Freund's adjuvant.

W K Reisen, T C Hillis.

Abstract

The stimulation of cell-mediated immunity by the injection of antigen from killed parasites incorporated in complete Freund's adjuvant did not protect Mus musculus from the erythrocytic stages of Plasmodium berghei. Agglutinating antibodies could not be detected, but delayed hypersensitivity was demonstrable. Apparently thymocyte sensitization alone was not sufficient to afford protection.
