Abstract
Although approximately 90% of patients diagnosed with hypertension have essential hypertension, it is important that secondary hypertension is considered; diagnosed, when present; and managed either medically or surgically. Although the most common organ involved in the etiology of secondary hypertension is the kidney, disorders of the adrenal gland also play a major role. This review focuses on recent findings and controversies about the adrenal medulla and, where appropriate, on the role of the adrenal medulla in hypertension.Entities:
