Abstract
Salmonella typhimurium cells were grown in the presence of (14C)-N4-hydroxycytidine (N4OHcyd), a mutagenic nucleoside, and labelling in DNA and RNA digest was traced. The results show that this analogue is incorporated into RNA at a level of 40 mug/100 mg, and into DNA with a yield at least 100 times smaller. Some N-minus4OHcyd was rapidly metabolized and labelling was found in all ribo- and deoxyribo-nucleosides.Entities:
