Abstract
Understanding how immunoglobulin superfamily cell adhesion molecules (IgCAMs) regulate nervous system development has lagged behind studies on integrins and cadherins. The recent characterization of IgCAM structures combined with cell biological studies on protein-protein interactions and membrane targeting/trafficking demonstrate that IgCAMs interact in exceedingly complex ways to regulate axonal growth and pathfinding.Mesh:
