Abstract
Vital dyes such as fluorescein, rose bengal, and lissamine green B, among others, have been an important tool in clinical ophthalmology in diagnosis and evaluation of various ocular surface disorders. Each dye, having a unique chemical structure, has distinct characteristics that allows its preferential use in different ocular pathologies. In this article, history of vital dyes and the use of popular current vital dyes in corneal disease are reviewed.Entities:
