The repair of potentially lethal damage; an alternative approach.

K H Chadwick, H P Leenhouts.

Abstract

An alternative approach to the explanation and analysis of post-irradiation effects is presented. The analysis is based on the repair of a radiation-induced lesion and it is shown that the experimental results are compatible with the repair of one type of critical lesion involved in cell reproductive death. The nature of the lesion with respect to potentially lethal damage and sub-lethal damage is discussed.
