Abstract
Gene therapy represents a fundamentally new way to treat disease. Originally conceived as an approach to hereditary disease, it is now being applied to a broad range of acquired conditions such as infections, cancers, and degenerative disorders. A current overview of gene therapy is presented in this article, including descriptions of two clinical protocols and perspectives for new directions.Entities:
