Abstract
Proline-requiring auxotrophs are recovered preferentially after mutant enrichment procedures (e.g., penicillin) which perturb the cell envelope, but not after procedures (e.g., thymineless death) which affect other cellular targets. This probably stems from effects of penicillin and similar antibiotics upon proline metabolic and transport enzymes associated with the cell envelope.Entities:
