Abstract
This study examines the anti-ulcerogenic activity of eugenol, a natural compound obtained from many natural sources. Gastric ulcers, induced by administration of two ulcerogenic agents, i.e. platelet activating factor (PAF) and ethanol, were dose-dependently and significantly reduced by eugenol (10-100 mg/kg, p.o.) pre-treatment. Eugenol was able to reduce not only the number of ulcers but also the gravity of lesions.Entities:
