Abstract
Articular cartilage, which enables smooth gliding of joints during skeletal motion, is vulnerable to injuries and degenerative diseases over time. Bone growth factors have a role in the preservation of the cartilage matrix. This article reviews the potential to treat cartilage damage for bone morphogenetic proteins, insulin-like growth factors, hepatocyte growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor, and transforming growth factor beta.Entities:
