Abstract
Cellular retinoic acid-binding protein (CRABP) appears in vertebrate organisms in two isoforms, CRABPI and II, with distinct distribution and functions. CRABPII, when combined with its retinoic acid (RA) ligand, interacts specifically with the liganded RA receptor complex (RAR.RXR), which is bound to the RA response elements of particular genes in order to greatly activate their expression. Thus, liganded CRABPII acts as a coactivator for RAR.RXR.Entities:
