Abstract
Although research and development of new penicillins have declined, penicillins continue to be essential antibiotics for the treatment and prophylaxis of infectious diseases. The most recent additions are the ureidopenicillins and beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations. This article reviews the spectrum of activity, toxicity, pharmacokinetics, and clinical uses of the ureidopenicillins, and the beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitor combination agents.Entities:
