Abstract
Nurses, especially those with specialized training such as nephrology, are looking more and more endangered. A cursory review of the classified ads supports the likelihood of another nursing shortage with the reappearance of key words such as, "relocation assistance," "incentive pay," and "hiring bonus." It is now commonplace to see hiring bonuses ranging from $3,000-$6,000. This article will investigate the definition of occupational shortages, possible causes of the nursing shortage, future implications, and strategies to be considered.Mesh:
