Nasotracheal intubation in epiglottitis.

R H Rapkin.

Abstract

Significant numbers of patients with epiglottitis have been treated using nasotracheal intubation. Evidence is accumulating that this procedure is safe, effective and reliable when used in this disease. Nasotracheal intubation should be considered a suitable alternative to tracheostomy in epiglottitis.
