Abstract
Thirty-two rabbits infected with Fumigatus keratitis were treated for a period of 10 to 20 days with a new antifungal agent known as "BAY b 5097" (Canesten). It was administered to 6 animals (500 mg/kg body weight; 12 eyes) orally; 20 received unilateral topical treatment. In both groups the therapy failed to supress mycosis in the avascular cornea. In topical treatment problems concerning common solvents arise: They are unable to reach the intracorneal infection, and most of them are incompatible for conjunctival use.Entities:
