Abstract
Current knowledge of antithrombotic therapy based on controlled clinical trials has revolutionized the way clinicians approach stroke prevention and treatment. This review article addresses the pathogenesis of stroke and summarizes information from clinical trials regarding the use of antiplatelet agents, heparin, warfarin (particularly in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation), and thrombolytics in stroke prevention and treatment.Entities:
