[Pharmacological of cortex moutan and core].

Comparative studies have been made on the medicinal efficacy of core and cortex moutan. The result shows: no marked difference between the cortex and core in reducing inflammation, promoting thrombocyte coagulation, inhibiting convulsion, depressing blood pressure and strengthening antiseptic activity. The toxicity of the core is 38.5 percent of the cortex. This study provides ascientific evidence that the core can be used as medicine.
