Abstract
The author presents a study on snakebites in 8 counties in the State of Roraima, Brazil, from 1992 to 1998. A total of 309 recorded snakebites were described and analyzed by place, fatality, sex, time of day, date, month, and age distribution. Most of the reported cases involved genus Bothrops (81.8%). The most frequently involved counties were Alto Alegre (49.0%), São Luiz do Anauá (14.9%), and Normandia (10.3%). Cases occurred most frequently in the months of March and July, and especially during the daytime (74.8%).Entities:
