Abstract
Epithelial structures, such as the wing hairs and ommatidia in Drosophila, are aligned in the plane of the epithelium. This planar polarity requires the transmembrane receptor Frizzled. Recent studies have shed new light on mechanisms that could be involved in generating or transducing the polarity signal.Entities:
