Abstract
Cell viability requires accurate chromosome segregation at mitosis. The spindle checkpoint ensures that anaphase is not attempted until the sister chromatids of each chromosome are attached to spindle microtubules from opposite poles. The checkpoint mechanism involves a signal transduction cascade that is more complex than was originally envisioned.Mesh:
