Abstract
Powder neutron diffraction studies show that boron and carbon atoms alternate in the planar pi-conjugated layers in CeB(2)C(2) and its lanthanide analogues, rather than being paired as was previously reported. Long and short B-C bonds correspond to the idealized arrangement of single and double bonds shown in the picture.Entities:
