Abstract
A case of Alcaligenes faecalis septicaemia occurring after appendicectomy is described, and previous reports of this condition are briefly reviewed. Alcaligenes is frequently found in the faeces of healthy people and systemic infections appear to be very uncommon. Nevertheless, if the organism is cultured from the blood it should not be dismissed as a contaminant without careful investigation.Entities:
