Abstract
Various organic extracts of Sida rhomboidea leaves were studied for antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activity at a dose of 200 mg/kg. Ethyl acetate extract has shown significant (P < 0.01) antinociceptive activity. Percentage inhibition of edema by butanolic extract (33.05, P < 0.001) is comparable to that of phenylbutazone, 100 mg/kg inhibition (38.83%). Phytochemical screening of the extracts indicated the presence of alkaloids, steroids and/or triterpenoids and their glycosides, tannins, flavonoids and their glycosides, carbohydrates and absence of cardiac glycosides.Entities:
