Abstract
Modern insulin therapy for Type 1 diabetes is part of a comprehensive treatment program designed to achieve and maintain blood glucose levels as close to normal as possible. The insulin regimens most likely to be successful approximate physiologic insulin delivery by combining basal and meal doses. Several options are available, including constant infusion by external pump and multiple daily injection therapy.
