New Zealand trends in rheumatic fever: 1885-1971.

Abstract

National statistics of rheumatic fever in New Zealand show falling mortality over the past 30 years. However, morbidity remains high, especially among Maori children. Community-based studies are under way to elucidate this important public health problem.
