Abstract
Ehrlichia chaffeensis is an obligatory intracellular bacterium that infects the monocyte-macrophage. E. chaffeensis, which is transmitted to humans by ticks primarily from infected deer, causes human monocytic ehrlichiosis, an acute febrile systemic illness. This paper reviews current knowledge of clinical and biological aspects of infections caused by E. chaffeensis.Entities:
