[Gingivitis in Zurich preschool children].

The gingival condition of 96 boys and 92 girls 5 years old was clinically examined using the sulcus bleeding index (Mühlemann)Son, 1971). 58% of all children exhibited a light degree of gingivitis. The average inflammatory degree was 0.17 (SBI). There was no significant difference in degree of inflammation between the boys and girls. Only 24 gingival units per child were inflammed.
