Abstract
In the United States alone, more than one-fifth of antibiotic prescriptions written are for viral illnesses. Due to the increasing resistance rates among commonly encountered bacteria, it is imperative that physicians re-examine their prescription writing habits. Physician and patient re-education, better use of diagnostic testing, the use of narrow spectrum antibiotic agents and shorter course therapy are essential for this to occur. The future health of Arkansas residents is dependent upon changes being implemented before it is too late.Entities:
