Abstract
The flooding procedure for measuring protein synthesis in individual tissues with amino acids labelled with stable isotopes is explained, and its advantages for studies in humans are described. The application of this method for investigating the effects of nutrition in healthy volunteers and sick patients is illustrated with examples of studies on skeletal muscle, liver (including albumin) and lymphocytes.Entities:
