Abstract
Secretory IgM provides a first line of defense against pathogens and is uniquely capable of enhancing the primary humoral immune response. Complement activation is especially important for these activities. Here, Padmalatha Reddy and Ronald Corley discuss how the 'quality control' mechanisms that regulate IgM assembly and secretion play important roles in the developmental progression of B cells and in B-cell function.Mesh:
