Abstract
Outcomes research using analysis of preexisting data is a relatively new field with the potential to improve the quality and effectiveness of medical care, and may provide a useful complement to randomized studies. Motivated by the growth of this research in the cardiovascular literature, this review offers a framework to identify the core concepts of outcomes research from database analyses by comparing and contrasting it with the randomized clinical trial.Mesh:
