Abstract
BPH is a common phenomenon of the aging process. Clinical manifestations may range from minimally bothersome symptoms to urinary retention and renal failure. Tailoring of treatment based on the individual patient is required for successful management. For mild symptoms, watchful waiting is a valid option. For severe symptoms, surgical therapy is most appropriate. For men complaining of moderate symptoms, medical therapy has become front-line therapy, with other less invasive treatment modalities being available or in development.Entities:
