Abstract
Applications for computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the head (excluding the brain and orbit) include the evaluation of neoplastic, inflammatory, and traumatic disorders of the skull (including the cranium, maxilla, mandible, and temporomandibular joints); of the nasal and oral cavities; of the nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses; and of the tympanic bullae. CT and MRI provide information not obtained with routine radiography and should be considered whenever advanced surgical or radiation therapy is anticipated. In this article, the role of CT and MRI in the diagnosis of head disorders will be reviewed and illustrated with case examples.Entities:
