Abstract
This article uses a model for technology-enabled organizational transformation to analyze a case study of computerized order entry at a medium-sized, urban hospital. The hospital achieved initial goals for direct order entry by physicians and improvements in patient care and is now using the system to implement disease management policies. The authors use the model to examine decisions and actions that facilitated or constrained effective implementation of the system and discuss the model's implications for managing implementation of computerized order entry technologies in health care systems.Entities:
